How To Buy Lithium Battery Packs For Cargo Handling Vehicles

Lithium is a very light metal with a high energy density. This feature allows lithium batteries to be very light in weight and can provide a larger current. Energy density is the energy stored in the unit volume of the battery. The higher the energy density, the smaller the battery with the same capacity. Although the characteristics of lithium are very suitable for energy storage, it cannot be used directly as an electrode because the nature of lithium metal is extremely unstable. Therefore, although the lithium ion we use has the same characteristics as metal lithium, it is not metal and is relatively safe to use.

Usually the anode of a lithium battery is made of carbon atoms, and the cathode of the battery is made of cobalt oxide or other metal oxides. The two electrodes are connected by an electrolyte, which contains lithium ions. When discharging, the positively charged lithium ions move to the negative electrode and strike it until it becomes positively charged. After the negative electrode is positively charged, it will attract negatively charged electrons, which come from our circuit. , So that the lithium battery can provide energy for the circuit. Similarly, when charging, the situation is just the opposite. Electrons from the charge flow into the battery, so the lithium ions approach the anode, causing the cathode to lose its positive charge.

Advantages of ternary lithium battery: high energy density, good low temperature performance, smaller size, low temperature resistance. Disadvantages: poor safety, poor thermal stability, poor high-power discharge, and short cycle life.

Advantages of lithium cobalt oxide battery: high tap density, good stability, stable structure and good product consistency. Disadvantages: poor safety, very high cost, average cycle life, poor material stability

Advantages of lithium manganate battery: high energy density, low cost, high safety, stable low temperature performance. Disadvantages: poor high temperature performance and relatively short life.

Advantages of lithium iron phosphate battery

1) Rate output: standard discharge is 2~5C, continuous high current discharge can reach 10C, instant pulse discharge (10S) can reach 20C;

2) Good performance at high temperature: when the external temperature is 65℃, the internal temperature is as high as 95℃, and the temperature can reach 160℃ when the battery is discharged. The battery structure is safe and intact;

3) The battery is damaged, the battery does not burn, no, the safety is better;

4) Excellent cycle life, after 500 cycles, its discharge capacity is still greater than 95%;

5) There is no damage even after over-discharge to zero volts;

6) Rechargeable;

7) No pollution to the environment.

8) There is no memory effect, no matter what state the battery is in, it can be charged and used at any time, without having to discharge it before charging.

9) Small size and light weight. The volume of the lithium iron phosphate battery of the same specification and capacity is 1/3 of the volume of the lead-acid battery, and the weight is 1/3 of the lead-acid battery.

Disadvantages of lithium iron phosphate battery

1) The tap density and compaction density are very low, resulting in lower energy density and large volume of lithium-ion batteries; (2) The material preparation cost and battery manufacturing cost are higher, the battery yield is low, and the consistency is poor; (3) ) Poor product consistency, low energy density, poor low-power discharge; (4) poor low-temperature performance

Precautions for maintenance of lithium batteries

1. The service life of lithium batteries is generally 4-6 years, which is twice that of conventional lead-acid batteries. The use and charging temperature of lithium batteries is 0-40℃

2. The new lithium battery will have a small amount of power display, it is recommended that the user is fully charged before using it.

3. Because the lithium battery has no memory effect, it can be charged at any time after use. So you don’t need to charge it for 12 hours like a lead-acid battery, and you have to discharge it after a while. The lithium battery cannot be overcharged or overdischarged, which will seriously affect the life of the lithium battery, so when the battery is low, it must be charged immediately.

4. Do not shake, knock, step on, modify or expose the lithium battery, do not put the lithium battery in the high temperature heat source accessories, especially when charging, pay attention to use a regular charger that matches the battery, and do not use inferior chargers .

5. When your truck is not in use for a long time, remove the battery and place it in a dry place where it is not exposed to direct sunlight. Charge it once every two months, and the power should not be less than 50% (the battery has self-discharge). In order to prevent metal materials from contacting the positive and negative terminals of the battery, do not put the battery and metal objects together.
