Comparation between LFP & NMC Batteries

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP)
In 1996, the University of Texas (and other contributors) discovered phosphate as the cathode material for rechargeable lithium batteries. Lithium phosphate has good electrochemical performance and low resistance. This is achieved by nano-phosphate cathode materials. Its main advantages are high current rating and long cycle life. In addition, it has good thermal stability and improved safety and tolerance.
Compared with other lithium ion systems, lithium phosphate maintains a higher tolerance under high voltage for a long time, and the pressure is lower. As a compromise, the lower voltage of 3.2V/battery can reduce the specific energy to a lower level than manganese lithium. For most batteries, low temperature will reduce performance, increased storage temperature will shorten the battery life, and lithium phosphate is no exception.
Lithium phosphate has a higher self-discharge than other lithium-ion batteries, which can cause balance problems during aging.
Lithium phosphate is often used to replace lead-acid batteries.
Lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC)
One of the most successful lithium ion systems is the nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cathode combination. Lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide batteries, also known as lithium-manganese-cobalt oxide batteries, are made of several materials commonly found in other lithium-iron batteries. This involves the cathode combination of nickel, manganese and cobalt
The NMC in the same battery is optimized for a specific power, its capacity is only about 2000MWh, but it can provide a continuous discharge current of 20A.
The silicon-based anode will reach 4000mAh or higher, but the load capacity is reduced and the cycle life is shorter. The silicon added to graphite has a disadvantage that the anode grows and shrinks with charging and discharging, making the mechanical properties of the battery unstable.
Like other types of lithium-ion batteries, NMC batteries can have high specific energy or high specific power. However, they cannot have both attributes. Such batteries are most commonly found in power tools and vehicle powertrains.
The cathode mix ratio is usually one-third nickel, one-third manganese, and one-third cobalt, which means that raw material costs are lower than other options because cobalt itself can be quite expensive. According to the Battery University, this type of battery is also commonly used in electric vehicles due to its extremely low self-heating rate.
How long does 6000mAh lithium battery discharge under 300 amp load?
This battery is designed to output 0.3 amps in 20 hours. There is always a limiter that packs lithium batteries to ensure that you don’t draw too much power and damage the battery. Attempting to draw 300 amps will be considered a complete short circuit and the limiter will be activated to avoid battery damage. If this is not done, fire and explosion will occur soon after loading.
When the lithium-ion battery dies permanently, what causes it?
When the discharge voltage of each battery of the lithium battery is lower than 3.0V, the cathode will fail, and eventually the anode will be short-circuited, so the battery cannot work at all. The more discharge, the faster the rate of occurrence. When the voltage of each battery of a lithium ion battery reaches 3.2V, be sure to stop discharging to prevent damage.
In addition, when a battery is used and heated, it breaks the very thin SEI layer on the anode. This layer is carefully formed in the battery manufacturing process. If a layer is damaged or too thick, it will cause the chemical substance to fail or fail, resulting in more heat and more failures.
